A Revolutionary Love!

It was 1979 and the All African People’s Revolutionary Party called their names. Jaliwa who was living in Philadelphia but had decided to visit her sister Khadijah in Atlanta. President Sekou Toure from Guinea was being honored in Washington, DC that summer, and this was not to be missed.

It wasn’t by chance that Abdul Azeez decided to sit next to her. He said: “She looked good and she was smart.” The long bus ride was made shorter by their laughter and far-ranging conversation. She was mesmerized by his charming demeanor and his undying dedication to African people

To say that the brother made an impression was an understatement. To say that his nose was wide open is to be generous. Just two weeks later on September 11, 1979 Abdul-Azeez popped the question.

“Yes!!!” came back without hesitation.

Not giving her time to change her mind, they were married on the next day, September 12, 1979. Their family and the extended community gathered as the two were married by Revolutionary Rev Shabako.

September 12, 1979, held special significance. It was the same date his parents had gotten married 41 years earlier. That was the real reason they choose the date. And Allah has blessed them to see 40 years together.

They have been blessed and highly favored raising a loving family of 5 children and 18 grandchildren with two on the way. They have gained 3 priceless sons in-black love and 1 daughter, who will never be an out-law.

They have been no strangers to commitment and struggle, educating 100’s of Afrikan children by way of
*Kuumba Learning Center 1980,
*Freedom Institute 1983,
*Atlanta Progress Academy 1988.
*Nasril ILM Islamic Academy 2004.

They have employed our youth and families in our community by way of Marie’s at Ummat Cafe 2012.

Through all those wonderful years they have had each other’s FRONT. Through loving each other they have embraced AND often reflect the words of Bro. Atu, “We are more than important to each other...We are NECESSARY !” Ase
